Welcome to the official website of St Hugh's Boat Club!
SHBC is a boat club for members of St Hugh's College, Oxford, with a membership of approximately 65 people, all undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate courses at the University of Oxford. Almost all of our rowing is done in eights, with all members able to enter into two bumps racing competitions per year, alongside smaller side-by-side and time trial races whenever the opportunity arrives. Recognised as one of the most enthusiastic boat clubs in the collegiate rowing community, we row because we love it, and enjoyment is our only prerequisite for success.
Rowing Glossary - If you're new to rowing this is a fantastic glossary of rowing terms. It covers pretty much everything you need to know or may be interested in as a novice, so if there's anything you're unsure of, take a look.
The Committee - A list of committee members can be found here. Do feel free to contact anyone with any questions you may have, they're here to help, after all.
Alumni - If you are an Alumnus take a look at our newsletters to get up to speed on what's been happening recently. There is also information on our alumni society (FOSH), as well as information on how to donate to SHBC.
21/11/2014 Life at SHBC is as busy as ever! We have novices competing in both Nephthys and Christ Church Regatta. Come down to the Isis tomorrow at 1130 to see them take on their first challenge
9/11/2014 Congratulations to our senior women's crew who set a very respectable time at IWL A - keep up the great work girls!
05/11/2014 Our novices are busy training on the water and it looks like we are going to have some great crews competing in Christ Church. The senior women are also busy preparing for IWL A on Sunday - good luck to them!
19/10/2014 As ever, Conquistadors was a great success! Fantastic to see so many freshers (as well as a few old faces!) there and we hope to see many of them out on the river too this term.
22/07/2014 Preparations for Freshers’ Week are under way. The Isis will once again become novice central as taster sessions get underway. Watch this space!
29/06/2014 The annual committee elections have taken place and the new committee have been elected. See the "Meet the Committee" page to see your new committee members. Congratulations to those elected and farewell to those leaving us! It's been a terrifically successful year for SHBC thanks to all your hard work.
