Welcome to the official website of St Hugh's Boat Club!
SHBC is a boat club for members of St Hugh's College, Oxford, with a membership of approximately 65 people, all undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate courses at the University of Oxford. Almost all of our rowing is done in eights, with all members able to enter into two bumps racing competitions per year, alongside smaller side-by-side and time trial races whenever the opportunity arrives. Recognised as one of the most enthusiastic boat clubs in the collegiate rowing community, we row because we love it, and enjoyment is our only prerequisite for success.
Rowing Glossary - If you're new to rowing this is a fantastic glossary of rowing terms. It covers pretty much everything you need to know or may be interested in as a novice, so if there's anything you're unsure of, take a look.
The Committee - A list of committee members can be found here. Do feel free to contact anyone with any questions you may have, they're here to help, after all.
Alumni - If you are an Alumnus take a look at our newsletters to get up to speed on what's been happening recently. There is also information on our alumni society (FOSH), as well as information on how to donate to SHBC.
30/11/2013: One crew from each side of the club makes it through to the Saturday of Christ Church Regatta! Such success in ChCh hasn't been seen for years by Hugh's crews. Many proud coaches.
25/05/2013: W2 win blades! It's the first time since 2007 that a Hugh's women's crew has won blades. M2 achieved the now-coveted 'rolling pin' award for rowing over all four days of the competition, the only men's crew to do so.
21/05/2013: We have five crews racing in Summer Eights this week! M2, M3 and W2 all rowed on successfully, with racing times available on the events page.
11/05/2013: SHBC M1 IV win the novice competition at Shrewsbury Regatta, making this possibly the only win for a Hugh's crew in an external regatta ever!
